How to Claim Your AHA eCard via Email in 6 Easy Steps

Finishing an American Heart Association course is only part of the process. To show proof of course completion, you still need to claim your AHA eCard online.

The good news is that the email claiming process is simple. You will receive a message from `eCards@heart.org`, follow the secure link, confirm your information, answer a short survey, and then access your card. Once claimed, your eCard can be saved, printed, or used as proof for an employer.

This guide walks through each step clearly, including what to check before you submit anything.

Your AHA eCard claim starts with the official email link.

Before you start, check the right email account

Your eCard invitation should arrive from `eCards@heart.org`. The message includes a link inviting you to claim your eCard online.

If you do not see the email right away, check these places:

  • Your spam folder

  • Your junk folder

  • Any filtered or archived email folders

  • The email account you used when registering for the course

Do not rush past this step. Many claim issues come from looking in the wrong inbox or missing the invitation because it was filtered by the email provider.

Once you find the message, open it and use the link provided. That link will take you to the Student Profile webpage, where you can begin the claiming process.

Step 1. Open the email and review your Student Profile

Click the link in the email from `eCards@heart.org`. It should direct you to the Student Profile page.

Before moving forward, carefully review all the information shown on the page. Make sure it matches your course record.

Check the following details:

  • First name

  • Last name

  • Email address

  • Phone number, if one was entered for claiming by SMS

  • eCard code

  • AHA Instructor name

  • Training Center information

These details matter because your eCard serves as your official course completion record. If your name, email, or course information is wrong, you may have trouble using the card as proof later.

If anything looks incorrect, do not submit the profile. Contact your Training Center and ask them to correct the information. The Training Center connected to your course is the right place to resolve record issues.

Step 2. Set up your security question and accept the terms

After confirming your Student Profile information, you will be asked to create a security question and answer.

Choose a question and answer you can remember. This may help verify your identity if you need to access your eCard again later.

When you finish setting up the security question:

  1. Read the site terms.

  2. Accept the terms if you agree.

  3. Click Submit.

This step helps protect access to your eCard and confirms that you are ready to continue through the claim process.

Step 3. Complete the course survey

Next, you will be asked to complete a survey about the course you just finished.

The survey gives you a chance to provide feedback about your training experience. These answers help improve future AHA training by giving course providers useful information about what worked well and what could be better.

Answer the questions honestly and submit the survey when finished.

The survey is not just a formality. It is part of the online claim process, so your eCard will not display until you complete it.

Step 4. View, save, or print your eCard

After you submit the survey, your eCard will display on the screen.

At this point, you should take time to save a copy for your records. You may also print it if you prefer to keep a paper copy.

Good recordkeeping can save time later, especially if an employer, school, or organization asks for proof of course completion.

You can usually keep your eCard in more than one place, such as:

  • A saved digital file

  • A printed copy

  • A confirmation email

  • A secure personal records folder

Avoid relying on memory or assuming you can easily find the link later. Save your eCard while it is on screen.

Step 5. Save the confirmation email after claiming

Once your eCard has been claimed, you will receive an email notification confirming that the claim was completed.

Save this confirmation email for your records. It can help you verify that the claiming process was successful, and it may make it easier to locate your eCard again later.

A simple approach is to create a folder in your email for training records or certifications. Move the confirmation email there so it does not get lost among regular messages.

You can also search your inbox later for:

  • `eCards@heart.org`

  • “AHA eCard”

  • “claimed eCard”

  • The course name

Keeping both the eCard and confirmation email gives you more than one way to find your documentation when you need it.

Step 6. Use the claimed eCard as proof of completion

Claiming your eCard is the step that allows you to show proof of course completion to your employer.

If an employer asks for proof, use the claimed eCard rather than an unclaimed email invitation. The invitation only starts the process. The claimed eCard is the document that shows completion.

If you need to email your eCard, access your claimed eCard and follow the available option for sharing or emailing it. If you are unsure where to find that option, review the instructions for viewing a claimed eCard or contact your Training Center for help.

A quick checklist before you finish

Before you close the browser window, make sure you have completed each item:

  • Opened the email from `eCards@heart.org`

  • Checked spam or junk folders if needed

  • Confirmed all Student Profile details

  • Contacted the Training Center if any information was wrong

  • Set up your security question and answer

  • Accepted the site terms and clicked Submit

  • Completed the course survey

  • Viewed your eCard

  • Saved or printed the eCard

  • Saved the confirmation email

Your AHA eCard is more than a completion notice. It is the record you may need for work, school, or compliance requirements. Claim it as soon as the email arrives, check the details carefully, and save both the card and confirmation email in a place you can find later.
